Office on the web for Free!

If you already have a Windows Live account, also referred to as hotmail or passport, when you log into your account you will find the new Office menu. These are free, online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote that you can access from the web browser.  Yes, they are watered down, but they are compatible with their desktop versions and are surprisingly functional.  The PowerPoint Web App is one to really look at. Office 2010 to launch on May 12

ZDnet is reporting that Office 2010 will be released at an event in New York on May 12th, you can watch it at Microsoft here.  Initially it will only be immediately available for businesses with licensing agreements.  It should reach retail and the masses sometime in June....

Office 2010 Web Apps

Microsoft is beta testing the web versions of their 2010 Office Suite.  Office web apps will be available for free, but will be watered down versions of their bigger brother Office 2010.  Still they should be feature rich compared to Google Docs and provide some nifty syncing tools to those that have the desktop version as well.  LiveSide has a good preview of what it looks like right now, but it will continue to get polished over the next few months....
